Abstract

Fujifilm participates in a pilot to produce safe drinking water for remote areas. A solar powered desalination and desinfection system has been built, which make use of Fujifilm ion exchange membranes. Prior shipment to the monastry in Egypt, the system will be extensively tested till January 2013 under various conditions in the Netherlands.

Description

The desalination solution produces drinking water out of brackish water (10 g/l) with a capacity of 500 liters per hour. Installation of the solar powered 2 stage UF-ED desalination/desinfection system (see photo) is scheduled for early 2013.

Abstract

After a few preliminary rounds 15 teams were invited to meet and compete in the final of the European edition of the NRG Battle. Team Fujifilm won the first prize. A TV documentary will be made on their winning innovative idea.

Description

The NRG Battle is an event for talented students with interest in the Energy sector. This year 60 temas joined the competition in the European edition of the NRG Battle. On November 20th the final took place in Groningen, where the best teams had 5 minutes to present their innovative ideas to a jury. Team Fujifilm constructed a close-loop system that uses waste heat and Fujifilms RED technology to generate Blue Energy. With this novel and useful solution team Fujifilm won the NRG battle final. The first prize is a TV documentatry on National Geographic, which will be broadcasted in January 2013.
